    The University of Wollongong in Dubai (“UOWD”, “we”, “our”, or “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy. Excerpts of the UOWGE Privacy Policy have been incorporated for use within the UOWD Mobile App to explain how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information when you use the UOWD Mobile App.

    1. Information We Collect

    When you use the UOWD Mobile App, we may collect the following types of information:

    • Personal Information: Name, email, student/staff ID, login credentials (UOW/UOWD accounts).
    • Device Information: Device type, operating system, unique identifiers, crash logs, and usage analytics.
    • App Permissions: Access to camera, microphone, notifications, storage, or location (only if required for specific features and with your consent).
    • Service Data: Course schedules, timetables, bookings (labs, rooms, services), and communication preferences.

    2. How We Use Your Information

    We use the information collected for the following purposes:

    • To provide secure access to UOWD services and resources.
    • To personalize and improve the app experience.
    • To enable features such as push notifications, timetable management, service bookings, and digital ID access.
    • To ensure compliance with UOW/UOWD IT policies and regulatory obligations.
    • For troubleshooting, analytics, and improving app performance.

    3. Sharing of Information

    We do not sell or rent your personal data. Information may be shared:

    • Within UOWD and UOW Group for academic, administrative, and support services.
    • With trusted third-party providers (e.g., app hosting, analytics, payment gateways) who process data on our behalf under strict confidentiality agreements.
    • Where legally required to comply with UAE laws, regulatory authorities, or court orders.

    4. Data Security & Storage

    • Data is stored securely on UOWD or trusted third-party servers, in compliance with UAE data residency requirements.
    • Encryption and access controls are applied to protect personal information.
    • Access is restricted to authorized staff only.

    5. Your Rights

    You have the right to:

    • Access, update, or correct your information.
    • Withdraw consent for optional features (e.g., notifications, location).
    • Request deletion of your personal data where applicable under UAE law.

    6. Cookies & Tracking

    The mobile app may use limited tracking technologies or analytics tools to improve performance. These do not identify you personally and are used only to enhance functionality.

    7. Children’s Privacy

    The app is intended for enrolled students, staff, and authorized users of UOWD. It is not directed at children under the age of 16.

    8. Changes to this Policy

    We may update the provisions herein from time to time in conformance with the cyclical reviews of the UOWGE Privacy Policy.
